Business Career College’s Group Insurance Symposium is a virtual event that we hold every year. It not only brings together experts from group benefits and insurance in Alberta, but gives financial services professionals the opportunity to expand their knowledge in this exciting industry and earn continuing education credits (CE) at the same time.
While we don’t want to give away all the topics we’ll cover in this year’s symposium, you can expect the breadth of topics to be timely and relevant to today’s changing landscape in what employers and organizations are looking for in group benefits package. For instance, even though medical marijuana has been used medically in Canada for quite a while to treat a wide variety of conditions, with the recent legalization of marijuana in Canada, more people than ever before are interested in its medical benefits. In the symposium, one of the things we’ll discuss is what medical marijuana coverage looks like in a group insurance plan.
We’ll also dive into topics like dental benefits, including the basics that are generally included in a group insurance plan and the challenges and the potential challenges that exist in the dental benefits market. Other topics on the agenda are disability issues, behavioural finance, and much, much more.
